With the Holiday Entertaining Season fast approaching, we think it'd be a great idea to occasionally supply you with quick, fabulous recipes that we ourselves love to prepare ... just in case you've used up all the ideas from Food Network and its magazine, the Cooking Channel, PBS cooking shows, BonAppetit, SAVEUR, etc ...
Just kidding. Everyone needs a little more inspiration sometimes, don't you think? This autumn we'd love to extend some ideas for both what to prepare and where to shop.
Starting with extraordinary ingredients, adding your touch and pure intention, and and presenting foods with panache are the sure ways to win rave reviews.
Let's get started with a delicious savory dipping sauce for sausage or any other favorite protein of choice. Something like this gets guests salivating, and surely wondering what's coming next!
We love the vast varieties of housemade sausages at Huntington Meats at the Original LA Farmers Market, my favorite grocery store. For this recipe, I think any of the following varieties would not only work, they'd taste amazing:
Any of their Italian (chicken, hot, sweet, garlic, even Sicilian which is made with red wine); Garlic-Artichoke; Fresh Polish; Santa Fe Chicken; Chicken-Apple; Tropical Thunder Chicken; Spicy Lamb: any of their smoked varieties.
It's important to note that all of Jim and Dan's sausage made in-house are free of preservatives, MSG, and nitrates.
For your sauce ingredients, Huntington Meats has their own private-labeled mango chutney, as does Mr Marcel right next door to them. Marcel also offers the finest vinegars, and herb/spice selections, and mustards including Dijon. Just bring your shopping list and enjoy time in this magnificent gourmet emporium at your leisure!
If you haven't checked out this whole incredibly unique Market yet, and you'd like us to be your trusted guide for your first time, may I gently recommend our Farmers Market and West 3rd Street tour? It will open your senses (and especially your taste buds) to only good things, and please them beyond measure!
For this recipe, simply roast or grill (about 2 lbs.) sausages and slice them on the diagonal; provide cocktail toothpicks for serving. Place dip in the most beautiful serving bowl you have, sprinkle it with a few crushed pepper flakes, pass platter with your most beautiful smile, and voila! Everyone will ask for your recipe!
Until next time, I remain ~
