When traveling to Los Angeles, you might have a bucket list of things you want to do and what you absolutely must see. Whether you need a little help about where to start exploring or you already have your time here scheduled out, be sure to make time for some of these iconic destinations that no trip to L.A. will be complete without!

The Griffith Observatory, located in the Griffith hills, is one of the most visited tourist destinations in all of Southern California. In part, the observatory is a historic building in LA that has been around 1933. In addition to its history and beautiful architecture, the observatory also offers beautiful sights of downtown L.A. below and also the iconic Hollywood sign. On a clear day, you can even see all the way to the Pacific Ocean! Don’t forget to join in on the public star parties where you can look up at the stars using professional telescopes for FREE.

Since 1934, the Los Angeles Farmer’s Market has been the place to go for local goods. Here, you can support local farmers and vendors while also getting fresh produce, meats, poultry and more. Not only are there a number of vendors selling fresh goods, there are also eateries, restaurants and stands serving ready to eat foods. Want a fresh baked pie fresh churned ice cream? How about fresh baked bread? The Farmer’s Market has got it. Throughout the year there are also family friendly events to enjoy. Visit the schedule of events on the website for more information.

There might not be anything that’s more iconic to Los Angeles than the Hollywood Sign. The sign was put up in 1827 as a marketing strategy to get people to buy apartments that were going to be put up in the area. When the development project fell through, the sign stayed, and the rest is history. Today, while you can catch views of the sign at the street level, such as at Hollywood and Highland, there are also multiple trails you can hike that offers impressive, up close views of this iconic sign. Click here to choose between easy, medium and hard trails that all lead to picture perfect views of the sign.
